World Cancer Day

4 February 2010


Each year on 4 February, the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) is joined by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to raise awareness of cancer and to encou­rage its prevention, detection and treat­ment.
Cancer is a leading cause of death around the world. The UICC estimates that each year, over 12 million people receive a can­cer diagnosis and 7.6 million die of the disease.
